  • Do we really have to convert our radios to narrowband? Yes, the FCC is mandating that all 25Khz licenses in the Industrial/Business and Public Safety Pool be converted to 12.5Khz or narrower by January 1st, 2013.
  • Will we have to replace our entire fleet of radios when we go narrowband? Not necessarily. Many manufacturers have been making narrowband compliant radios for a number of years and will be capable of operating in this mode. An audit of your equipment should be undertaken to get an idea of which ones may be re-utilized.
  • Which  Tone and Voice pagers are narrowband capable? What happens when you use a wideband pager on a narrowband channel? The Motorola Minitor V and the Swissphone line of pagers that we offer are both narrowband capable. Minitor IV pagers and earlier are not able of the narrowband transition. Using a wideband pager on a narrowband channel could result in lower receive audio or possible degradation.
